about

Adam Majdecki-Janicki started his musical adventures in 2002 in the Polish psychedelic cassette underground, along Mateusz Nowicki (bass guitar), founding "the band of many names" like Brain Salad Underground, Próba Kwasu, or Kobieta Barda w Powiewie Letniej Bryzy, a story of which is the source of many urban legends in Adam's hometown of Poznań.
In 2008, under the pseudonym A.J. Kaufmann, he published his first book of poetry, titled "Siva in Rags" (Kendra Steiner Editions, Texas, USA).
In 2009, Adam started working with the underground-recognized American painter and visual artist, Justin Jackley. Justin currently runs Herby Records, a small Texan label for all things psych, also releasing Adam's materials.
In 2011 Adam released his debut album "Second Hand Man" (as A.J. Kaufmann) on vinyl and CD (Mimics Cool, Poland).
In 2012 he founded the band Saure Adler (krautrock/space rock/experimental) with Kacper Wojaczek. The band's debut vinyl album was released by the Australian label Ramble Records in 2021.
In 2014 he recorded and released his second solo album, "Stoned Gypsy Wanderer" (as A.J. Kaufmann, with Kendra Steiner Editions as the label), which was re-released on vinyl by the Australian label Ramble Records in 2021. This album also closed the poetry chapter in Adam's life until 2019.
In 2018 Adam joined Aumega Project, Germany's leading label for underground psychedelic sounds. Aumega Project released albums by many of Adam's side-projects.
In 2019, 17 years after founding his first band with Mateusz, he returned to using his birth name Adam Majdecki-Janicki for all of his activities, and released the loner folk album "Songs from Red Earth" on the Argentinian label Nebular Silence.
In 2020-2022 he released further solo albums, including the recognized "Eimi" for Snow in Water Records (France), called "a masterpiece of the genre" by Maurizio Bianchi himself.
In 2021 Adam's projects Fairyport Convent, The Yellow Blackness, and A.J. Kaufmann joined the underground label The Swamp Records out of the USA.
In 2022 Adam continues to work on new sounds, texts, and vision.

"Aldebaran" was inspired by Eliane Radigue, Kosmische Musik pioneers, Industrial culture, old sci-fi movies, primal trance, shamanism, and rich Polish underground culture. In "Aldebaran" Adam finds his first fascinations with sound come to life again, and is surprised by how little has changed in his approach to noise and music. "Aldebaran" could well be one of the "mythical lost tapes" of his first Poznań band.
